FINAL
Sidney 49 Centerville 71
The Yellow Jackets fell in the Sectional Tournament to Centerville
at UD Arena on Monday night. Sidney was led by Brad Yinger
with 12 points, Nathan Strome scored 8 points and Justin Stewart
added 7 points. The Jackets played hard but the defensive
pressure by Centerville ended the Yellow Jackets season.

SEMIFINAL
Sidney 71 Butler 51
The Yellow Jackets won their first tournament game at Kettering
on Wednesday night against Butler. Sidney started slow but
pulled away in the 2nd quarter for a huge win. The Yellow
Jackets were led by Josh Topp with 17 points. Brad Yinger
added 12 and Lamar Taborn had 10 points. The Jackets will
be back in OHSAA Sectional action vs. Centerville on Monday,
February 18th at 7 pm at The Unviersity of Dayton Arena.

Sidney 74 Northmont 69
The Yellow Jackets shocked the GWOC friday night with a huge
victory over league front runner Northmont. Sidney was led
by Brad Yinger with 33 points. The Jackets struggled in the
first quarter but caught fire in the 2nd quarter to take the
half time lead. The team played hard, played together and
held on in the end for the win. The JV and Freshman squads
both lost close games to start the night.

Sidney 69 Xenia 73
The Yellow Jackets lost a tough game at Xenia Tuesday night.
Spencer Rickert led Sidney with 16 points. Brad Yinger had
15 points and Josh Topp added 11 points. Sidney made a strong
comeback in the fourth quarter but fell short in the end.
The JV squad lost the opening game at Xenia.

Sidney 55 Butler 58
Sidney lost a tough game at Butler on Friday night. Butler
pulled away in the third quarter and hung on for a GWOC North
victory over the Yellow Jackets. Brad Yinger had 13 points
and 7 rebounds. Junior Lamar Taborn played well inside for
the Jackets with 12 points and 7 rebounds. The freshman lost
the opening game and the JV squad had the only victory on
the night for Sidney.

Jonathan Lowe led the Jackets to a GWOC North victory vs.
Troy on Friday night with 17 points. Josh Topp scored 13 points
and Spencer Rickert added 12 points for the victorious Yellow
Jackets. The Junior Varsity squad also won vs. Troy and the
freshman team lost the opening game.

The Yellow Jackets pulled away in the fourth quarter for a
big win at Springfield North on Tuesday night. Freshman Zach
Yinger led the Jackets off the bench with 21 points. Senior
Brad Yinger chipped in 17 points and Junior Lamar Taborn had
a big night for Sidney with 16 points and 9 rebounds. The
JV and Freshman teams also won their games at North.

Sidney pulled away in the fourth quarter for a big non-league
win at Greenville. The Jackets were led by Spencer Rickert
with 22 points. Brad Yinger had 15 points and Jonathan Lowe
chipped in 10 points. The Yellow Jackets picked up their fourth
win of the season and look for two in a row next friday at
the Hive vs. Piqua.

The Jackets lost to a very talented Trotwood team. Lamar Taborn
led the Jackets with 10 points and Zach Yinger added 9. The
freshman and JV teams also lost to Trotwood.

The Yellow Jackets pulled away in the third quarter and held
off Stivers in a non-league game saturday evening. Three Jackets
were in double figures led by Brad Yinger with 22 points.
Josh Topp had 14 points and Jonathan Lowe scored 13 points
for Sidney. Foy 2 points. Rickert 9 points. Stewart 4 points.
Taborn 7 points. Z. Yinger 7 points. The JV squad also won
and the freshman lost a close game in the opener.

Miami Valley. Brad Yinger led Sidney with 12 points and Aace

The Yellow Jackets lost a tough home game to a very sound
Greenville Team. Sidney was led by the Yinger brothers, Brad
had 18 points and Zach scored 12 points. Lamar Taborn added
10 points in a losing cause. Foy 2 points. Lowe 5 points.
Rickert 5 points. Strome 4 points. Topp 8 points. The JV Yellow
Jackets beat Greenville in the opening game.

The Yellow Jackets won a big GWOC North contest at home friday
night. The Jackets pulled away in the third quarter to take
a ten point lead and made free throws down the stretch to
hold on for the win. Sidney shot well from the 3 point line
and the free throw line. The Jackets made 11 three pointers
and shot 76% from the free throw line. Josh Topp led Sidney
with 13 points. Spencer Rickert and Brad Yinger both added
12 points each. Foy
3 points. Lowe 7 points. Strome 4 points. Taborn 6 points.
Z. Yinger 8 points. The freshman team won the opener while
the JV squad lost a close game to Butler.

Sidney had a chance to tie it at the buzzer but the shot hit
the backboard and fell off the rim. The Jackets were led by
Josh Topp with 25 points, Brad Yinger had 18 and Spencer Rickert
added 10 points. Foy 2 points. Lowe 3 points. Michael 2 points.
Stewart 7 points. Taborn 3 points. The JV squad won at Troy
and the Freshman lost a close game to start the night off.

The Jackets lost on the road to a hot shooting West Carrollton
Team. Junior Lamar Taborn had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Brad
Yinger led Sidney with 18 points. The Freshman Team won the
first game and the JV lost in the middle contest on the evening.

The Jackets lost a tough game at Piqua on friday evening.
The game was back and forth but Piqua pulled away in the 4th
quarter. Sidney was led by Spencer Rickert with 11 points
and Josh Topp chipped in 10 points. The Freshman and JV squads
both won at Piqua on Friday night.

Sidney hung tough against one of the top teams in the Dayton
Area. Brad Yinger paced the Jackets with 31 points. Josh Topp
had 12 points while Justin Stewart and Lamar Taborn each had
10 points. The Yellow Jackets are at GWOC North League Rival
Piqua on Friday night. The JV squad and the freshman squad
both came up short against Wayne.

Sidney 83 Trotwood Madison 111
The Jackets made a great comeback in the 2nd quarter to cut
Trotwoods lead to nine points at the half. Trotwood came out
and dominated the 3rd quarter and took control of the game.
Sidney was led by Spencer Rickert with 17 points and Brad
Yinger added 12. Freshman Zach Yinger and Dan Ocke played
well in the 4th quarter. The JV squad lost to Trotwood 55-34.

Sidney 61 Bellefontaine 55
The Yellow Jackets picked up there first win on this young
season against a tough Bellefontaine team. Josh Topp led the
Jackets with 21 points and Brad Yinger added 15 points. Sidney
started out slow and then took control of the game late in
the first quarter. The Yellow Jackets made big free throws
down the stretch to hold off a late Bellefontaine surge.

Sidney lost a close game at Fairmont Friday night 70-65. The
game came down to the wire with the Jackets having a couple
of opportunities to tie the game at the end. Sidney was led
by Brad Yinger with 16 pionts. Three other starters reached
double figures; Josh Topp with 13 points, Spencer Rickert
with 12 points and Jack Foy added 11 points.

Sidney 66 South 80
The Yellow Jackets lost their home opener to Springfield South
on Friday night. Sidney was led by Brad Yinger with 19 points
and Josh Topp chipped in 15 points. The Jackets had a hard
time against a hot South team who shot 57% from the field
to the Jackets 37%. The JV squad lost a double overtime thriller
to South and the Freshman beat Beavercreek in the opening
game. |
Playing
basketball for Sidney High School is a ten month commitment. The
summer program commences June 1st and includes strength training,
individual skill improvement and team play. The summer highlight
is the annual Sidney Shootout with cookout. Since 1991, Sidney has
played in five of the fifteen highest scoring games in Ohio High
School History. Included is the single highest scoring game 130-122
setback against Colonel White. SHS is 3-2 in those games.
