June 7, 2008 - STATE TOURNAMENT
The Sidney Track Team finished it's season yesterday at the Ohio Outdoor State Track Meet in top notch fashion. Jordan Goffena qualified for the finals in both the 110m hurdles and the 300m hurdles. He ended up finishing 5th overall in the 110m hurdles and 4th in the 300m hurdles. He ran a 37.97 in the 300's which resets his school record! We are extremely proud of the efforts put forth throughout the entire season by our Team, and congratulate Jordan on his great performance and wonderful 4 years as a Sidney Yellow Jacket. May 2, 2008 - Endurance Sports Wayne Invitational

The Sidney Track Team took a select group to the Endurance Sports Wayne Invitational Track Meet Friday night. At first it didn't appear as though the weather would cooperate, but rain or shine the competition went on. It was a great night full of excellent competition, and although I am biased, I feel some of the most exciting parts of the night involved our team. Jack Foy in his first year running track qualified for the finals in both the 100m (11.69) and 200m (23.32), both PR's. He ended up placing 7th overall in the 100m! Tarah Heath ran a PR in the 300m Hurdles with a time of 50.85. Luke Roberts ran a PR in the open 800 with a time of 2:11.31. Jordan faced off against Michael Willey, 4th in the 110m Hurdles and State Champion in the 300 Hurdles in 2007. In the 110m Hurdles Jordan ran the best race of his life and the finish was separated by .02 seconds! Jordan set the Sidney High School record by running a 14.25. In the 300m Hurdles Jordan duplicated his performance in the 110's by again running the race of his life. He again finished second, and set a Sidney High School record with a time of 38.12. It was a great night for Sidney Track and Field, and we look forward to hosting our last home meet this Thursday. Go Jackets! It was a good showing by both the Girl's and Boy's Teams by winning the meet. The girls are really starting to come together nicely and there were some PR's put up by them as well. The boys continue to do well also. We had some kids try different events and we were pleased with their efforts. Both teams are working hard and it shows in their performances. Goffena places 3rd at State Indoor Track
Jordan Goffena competed in the 60m Hurdles yesterday in Akron for the Indoor State Track Meet. He ran a PR of 8.14 in the prelims making him the number one qualifier for the finals. In the finals he ran a 8.16 which placed him 3rd overall. We are very excited about where we are right now heading into the Outdoor Season. We are very proud of Jordan's accomplishment, but we also realize we have plenty more to work on to prepare for our upcoming season. Go Jackets!

It was a GREAT showing by all of the athletes. Many of them got PR’s in their events! The coaches are very proud of everyone. There were many highlights in the meet, but the big boys running the 4x100 relay was one of the most memorable. This is the first time in history that both the Boys and Girls won the Sidney Invitational. Hard work and unselfish efforts were the reason for our victory. Go Jackets!

Butler 138, Chaminade Julienne 88, Troy 67, Tippecanoe 54, Carroll 51, Greenville 43.5, Piqua 42, Sidney 28.5, Indian Lake 28, Milton Union 23, Lehman Catholic 19, Dixie 18, Troy Christian 16, Northwestern 15, Tri-County North 14, Eaton 8, Jefferson 8, Wayne 2. 100m Hurdles: Jordan Goffena 1st at 15.35. 300m Hurdles: Jordan Goffena 1st at 41.25. High Jump: Jordan Goffena 5th at 5’ 8”. Shot Put: Tyler Jonas 7th at 42’9.75 “. Discus: Tyler Jonas 6th at 127’ 11”. The coaches are very proud of the efforts put forth by all athletes. Aaron Dinzeo had a 2 second PR in the 1600, and an 8 second PR in the 3200. Alex Ordway had a 26 second PR in the 3200 and Virginia had a 1:23 PR in the 3200. Virginia Mummey and Matt Kennedy received Athlete of the Meet honors. Great job to all, GO JACKETS!

Matt Kennedy, Anthony Ordway, Yuta Suzuki, Ethan Langhorst 6th 4x400 relay time 4:01.13. The Coaching Staff is very pleased with the efforts put forth by all of the athletes who participated. Everyone gave it their all, and really impressed us. We asked some to do events they were uncomfortable with, yet they performed like veterans. Great job all of you, we are very proud. GO JACKETS!
