Tony Brown
Head Girls Tennis Coach
Coach Brown is a 1984 graduate
of Sidney High School. He is in his first year leading the girl’s
tennis program. Coach Brown was a 4-year Letterman and won the GMVC
Championship in 1983, setting a school record along the way with
a perfect 23-0 record.
Coach Brown is very active
in the Sidney community as he is a supervisor at ODOT of Shelby
County and he runs the Flanagan Park concession stand. He loves
to play and teach the game of tennis. He stresses the importance
of fundamentals and team unity. Sidney Tennis has a bright future
under Coach Tony Brown. |

Singles: Siegel defeated by Back (Tecumseh) 6-3, 7-5. Kislig

(Trotwood) 6-0, 6-0. Doubles: Niswonger/ Machimura defeated
by Hughes/ Fuller (Stebbins) 6-7, 6-4, 6-4. Subler/ Edwards

October 3, 2009 - GWOC
The Sidney tennis girls went to Troy for the GWOC tournament
Saturday morning and come out pretty good. At first singles
Mandie Smith picked up a 7th place finish, at 2nd singles
Monica Kislig gutted out a 5th place finish, while at 3rd
singles Haruka Machimura got a 3rd place finish. On the Doubles
side 1st doubles team Nikki Subler/Kassi Edwards took home
a 5th place finish, and the 2nd doubles team of Mara Siegel/Katie
Niswonger pulled out a 4th place finish. Great job ladies
next stop are the Sectionals on Tuesday, again at Troy!

No District Qualifiers.
September 27, 2008 - GWOC Tournament
Sidney 4th
The Lady Jackets went to the GWOC tournament on Saturday held
at Troy High School and came away with a fourth place finish.
At first singles Nanako Ogawa finished 4th, Keya Lee got a
3rd place finish, and the Doubles team of Kerri Adkins &
Hilary Davis picked up a 2nd place finish. Overall the Lady
Jackets did well, I'm very proud of the Ladies they all played
well! The Ladies will be playing there final home Match on
Tuesday against Elida at 4:30pm, come out and cheer the Lady
Jackets to victory.

The Lady Jackets hosted Fairborn today and came away with
a 5-0 win every one won today and when that happens it's a
great day! The Lady Jackets improved to 5 wins this season,
1 more than last year with 2 matches to go. Good Luck Lady

The Lady Jackets Tennis Team traveled to Butler tonight where
they brought a win home 4-1. Winning were Nanako Ogawa 6-2,
7-5; Keya Lee at 2nd singles 6-3, 6-4; and Katherine Beigel
6-1, 6-1 and the 2nd Doubles team of Hilary Davis and Kerri
Adkins 6-0, 6-1. The Lady Jackets finish the season in Conference
play 2-2, which leaves them tied for 2nd.

The Lady Jackets fought hard but came up short against a tough
Troy Trojan team tonight losing 4-1 but keeping there win
streak alive was the 2nd Doubles Team of Hilary Davis and
Kerri Adkins, after spotting the Trojans the first set 4-6
and then going on to win 6-0, 6-0 for there 4th in a row.
In JV action Erin EnYart was on the winning side and for there
4th win in a row also were Nikki Subler and Chelsae Wise,
Haruka Machimura was again victorious in here singles match.
It was a great TEAM effort, the scoreboard doesn't always
show the true picture of the match. Good job ladies!

The Lady Jackets tennis team traveled to Springfield last
night, but did not fare well dropping the match 4 -1. The
Doubles Team of Kerri Adkins & Hilary Davis won in another
three set match ending again in tiebreaker. In JV action Haruka
Machimura got her first win in Singles, also winning were
the duos of Katie Niswonger and Rinako Muta, Nikki Subler
and Chelsae Wise and Sarah Hubbard and Aleshya Current.

Get First Win!
Sidney 4 Xenia 1
The Sidney High Girls Tennis Team get their first win this
season topping Xenia 4-1, they played determined today, they
wanted a win so they went out and got it. They played the
wind well, got the shots when they needed them, and made them
count. Winning were Nanako Ogawa at first Singles 6-2, 6-0;
Keya Lee at third singles 6-3, 6-4; the 1st doubles team of
Gina Macioce/ Alexis Roe 6-4, 6-4 for there second win of
the season and the 2nd doubles team of Kerri Adkins/ Hilary
Davis 6-0, 6-0. That brings the Lady Jackets to 1-7 on the
year. In JV action the girls won 3-0 playing Pro-sets, winning
were Erin EnYart at singles, Sarah Hubbard/ Rinako Muta at
doubles, and also at doubles the team of Kassi Edwards/ Haruka
Machimura. Congrats Lady Jackets on your first Win! All played
well today it's good to put one in the win column.

Well the Lady Netters closed out their season last night at Elida,
we lost 5-0 but we did have some close matches. Emma went to tiebreak
before losing and the doubles team of Kala Wise and Narumi Masuda
went 3 sets before going down in defeat. In reserve action it ended
in a 2-2 tie, the duo of Gina Macioce & Alexis Roe won 8-2,
and also Stephanie Coate & Mara Siegel won, That was Mara's
first win of the year! Congrats Mara and good Job!

1st singles: Hazuki Yamada (Freshmen) lost to Lebanon 8-2, lost
to Xenia 8-3, lost to Springfield South 6-4, 6-2 for 8th place.
2nd singles: Emma Van Matre (Senior) won to South 8-0, won against
Lebanon 8-5, won against Piqua 6-1,6-1 for 1st Place. 3rd singles:
Brittany Egbert (Senior) won against Wayne 8-2, lost to North 8-4,
won against Lebanon 6-3, 6-1 for 3rd Place. 1st doubles: Natsumi
Watanabe & Katherine Beigel (Junior/Freshmen) won against Xenia
8-3, lost to Piqua 8-2, won against North 7-6, 6-0 for 3rd Place.
2nd doubles: Kala Wise & Narumi Masuda (Senior/Freshmen) won
against North 8-2, lost to Wayne 8-2, lost to Butler 6-4, 6-1 for
4th Place.

The Lady Jackets had 3 matches this week heading into the GWOC on
Saturday, taking 1 of the 3 but had a very close match with Beavercreek
before losing 4-1. Winning was Natsumi Watanabe 7-6 7-6. Then on
Tuesday a very tough Northmont team won 5-0 to close out our league
play, also our home matches. On Thursday a day after rain, we headed
to Springfield South, and come home with a win 5-0 to bring our
record to 4-14 on the year.

Alyssa Myers, Keya Lee in singles and for her first win Katie Niswonger.

The Sidney Lady Netters lost a tough one against Piqua, a 3-2 decision
winning at second singles and third singles. Emma VanMatre took
3 sets to beat Shayna Mullin and Hazuki Yamada also took 3 sets
to beat Brittani Tilton. The girls were tired after a very busy
week playing 4 matches in a row. JV: Sidney 3 Piqua 2. Stephanie
Coate, Narumi Masuda, and the doubles team of Alexis Roe & Gina
Macioce were winners. Our Varsity record is now 2-10 and drop to
0-2 in the conference.

tough battle, and a battle it was, but we came up short 3-2. The

and Kala Wise & Katherine Beigel. Also winning in other matches
were Alyssa Myers & Keya Lee, Gina Macioce, Alexis Roe, and
the Doubles duo of Stephanie Coate and Amber long. The Jackets are
now 2-8.

The Sidney Lady Jackets won their first match tonight, a 5-0 win
at home against Springfield South. The hard work is starting to
pay off for the ladies, we've had some close games, but not winning
the matches. The 5-0 scores really doesn't show how close we've
been coming to winning, I think the girls are finally ready to turn
the corner. Tonight they really had fire in their eyes, as they
took it to the South Girls. In Reserve Action Keya Lee, Gina Macioce,
Mandie Smith, Stephanie Coate, & Alexis Roe were all victorious
with impressive wins, congratulations to all on a very well played
match!

The Lady Netters fell to a tough Elida team last night 5–0.
That was the last regular season match this year, with sectionals
coming up Thursday, which will mark an end to the season. We will
finish the regular season at 1-15, It was a frustrating year for
the ladies, but even if the standing doesn’t show it we made
great strides this year, and I’m positive better things will
come in the near future. Keep Your heads up ladies,and Thank you
for your effort, and I enjoyed coaching you this season!
