VARSITY WRESTLING RESULTS...

Jan. 27 v Indian Lake/ Troy/ Kenton Ridge - Home - 6pm
Feb. 5/6 v GWOC - Away - tba

January 20, 2010
Sidney 44 Piqua 25
Sidney built an early lead with the help of forfeits and never looked back. The Jackets actually only won 3 bouts that were wrestled along with 5 forfeits given by Piqua.

Sidney 37 Xenia 39
Xenia just out wrestled us tonight. We had beaten them earlier in the year 48-25, but tonight was a different story. The first time we met, they had a couple of their starters out that made a huge difference. They also turned the tables on us in a couple of individual matches. We had our chances, there were 6 or 7 lead changes in team scoring. It all comes down to the little things that add up to be big things when a dual is this close. We had a couple of their guys on their back but couldn't get the pin, we gave up 4 pins, along with the extra bonus points for major and superior wins. I thought Xenia wanted this one more than us tonight. The Jackets are now 10-3 in duals this season.

January 9, 2010 - Beavercreek Tournament
Sidney 6th
Cody Davis was champion at 112 lbs. winning 5-1 in the fianls over district qualifier Kramer of Beavercreek. It was good to see Davis back in action after a couple weeks out with an injury. Cody is now 15-2 on the year. Darian Ginter was runner-up at 145 lbs., losing 11-5 to Fraley of Miami Trace. Ginter looked especially good on his feet and in the bottom position. Darian is high point leader presently with a 16-5 record. Trevor Hawkey also placed 2nd at 285 lbs. Hawkey was somewhat a surprise for the Jackets, although he has put together a nice year thus far going 13-7 with 11 pins.
Steven Jones added a 3rd place finish, going 3-1 in the tournament. 5th place finishers included: Mason Calvert at 125 lbs. and Nate Karnehm at 135 lbs. In the reserve tournament portion, placers included: 2nd Coty Niswonger, Christian Manor 3rd Zach Bemus, Jacob Kerrigan 4th Dalton Scoggin.

VARSITY BOYS BOWLING RESULTS...
Feb. 5 v Butler - Home - 5:30pm
Feb. 8 v Springboro - Away - 4pm

January 29, 2010
Sidney 2307 Piqua 2069
Both teams defeated the Piqua Indians Friday evening at Bel-Mar Lanes. The boys set a new school record for high baker game. Zach Griffith, Doug Huffman, Chris Duncan, Dru Olding, and Trent Knoop combined their efforts into a 258 game. They started with an open, two single pin spares and the rest were strikes. In the regular game rounds Trent Knoop led the team with games of 235 and 214, Dru Olding rolled a 247 and a 202, Chris Duncan had a 212, and Zach Griffith added a 191. In JV action Devin Huffman bowled a 186.

January 26, 2010
Sidney 2383 Troy 2627
Both teams were defeated Tuesday by two very strong teams. Troy girls have not lost a match all year. They are well coached and very good bowlers. Troy boys had only lost one game this year and that was against our boys when they bowled at Bel-Mar. Troy boys are now 14-1 and 4-1 in the North division. Troy has had a strong program for years. We are always trying to get by them. Sometimes we do and sometimes we don’t. I am extremely proud of how well we bowled at Sherwood Lanes though. The shot was fairly dry to begin with which put many bowlers into a different ball right from the start. The lane conditions changed rapidly from breaking down to carrying oil down within two games. The boys led Troy 1058 to 1049 following the first regular game. Trent Knoop had a 253, Dru Olding a 224, and Chris Duncan had a 213. Once again Troy made adjustments with the carry-down quicker than we did. Troy shot and outstanding 1140 for the second regular game and we rolled a 952. Dru Olding thru a 214 in his second game. In JV action Devin Huffman threw a 214 and Zach Cole a 189.

January 25, 2010
Sidney 2494 Springfield 2146
For the boys Brad Hutchinson rolled games of 235 and 245, Trent Knoop rolled a 208 and a 231, Dru Olding rolled a 208, and Chris Duncan rolled a 227.

Both teams were defeated Tuesday by two very strong teams. Troy girls have not lost a match all year. They are well coached and very good bowlers. The shot was fairly dry to begin with which put many bowlers into a different ball right from the start. The lane conditions changed rapidly from breaking down to carrying oil down within two games. Following the first regular game Sidney was only trailing by 18 pins. Shelbie Anderson rolled a 206, Kristin Abbott a 211, and Jenna Shaffer a 222. With the carry down the second game we lost a little ground. Jenna Shaffer led the second regular game with a score of 203.

January 25, 2010
